Turn on Prompt for Override
With Prompt for Override enabled, the user can choose to allow or always allow an application that PC Matic is going to block.
This feature is recommended to be off by default as it is a less secure method of protection.
It is intended only for advanced users and any blocked files should be thoroughly vetted by the user before being allowed.
To enable Prompt for Override:
- Log into the web portal.
- Navigate to the Devices page and click on the device name that you want to enable Prompt for Override for.
- Click on SuperShield Options in the Security section of the Device Options sub-navigation menu.
Change the Blocked File Notification setting to Prompt for Override (Advanced).
- Scroll to the bottom and click the Save button.
Once you make this change in the portal, the endpoint will then have the SuperShield icon disappear from the system tray and re-appear in the tray.
If the shield does not re-appear within a minute, you can then go to the C:\Program Files (x86)\PCPitstop\Super Shield folder run the file PCMaticRT.exe to launch the system tray icon.
When a file is blocked by SuperShield with Prompt for Override enabled, you will see a prompt on screen with four options:
Block: Blocks this execution attempt one time. Future attempts of this file to execute on this device will be blocked and the prompt will be shown again.
Always Block: Blocks this execution attempt and adds the file to your Custom Blocklist for this device only. Future attempts of this file to execute on this device will be blocked.
Allow: Allows this execution attempt one time. Future attempts of this file to execute on this device will be blocked and the prompt will be shown again.
Always Allow: Allows this execution attempt and adds the file to your Custom Allowlist for this device only. Future attempts of this file to execute on this device will be allowed without prompt.
