Fingerprint Dashboard

Formerly SWAM Dashboard

The Fingerprint Dashboard provides details about the software installed across Windows devices across a company and allows for easy management of the software allowed to execute on these devices. To access the Fingerprint Dashboard select Fingerprint Dashboard in the sidebar.

MSP Accounts: First select a customer from the Customer's page, then select Fingerprint Dashboard.

Below is an overview of the Fingerprint Dashboard layout:

  • Enabled/Disable Toggle
    • Use to turn Fingerprint scanning ON/OFF
  • Scanned Devices
    • Displays the number of Windows devices that have been scanned for this customer. Click the card to view the list of devices and additional details.
  • Good Software Vendors
    • Displays the number of software vendors across all scanned Windows devices as well as the percentage of vendors with files that are categorized as Known Good by PC Matic. Click the large number to view Known Good files grouped by vendor. Click the Total number to view all files grouped by vendor.
  • Good Fingerprints
    • Displays the number of files on all scanned Windows devices as well as the percentage of files that are categorized as Known Good by PC Matic. Click the large number to view Know Good files, click the small number to view all files.
  • Unknown Fingerprints
    • Displays the number of files that are categorized as Unknown by PC Matic, the number of software vendors the files belong to, and the percentage of files that are digitally signed. Click the large number to view the list of files. Click “Software Vendors” to view files grouped by vendor. Click “Digitally Signed” to view the files filtered to those that are digitally signed.
  • Bad Fingerprints
    • Displays the number of files that are categorized as Bad by PC Matic, the number of software vendors the files belong to, and the percentage of files that are digitally signed. Click the large number to view the list of files. Click “Software Vendors” to view files grouped by vendor. Click “Digitally Signed” to view the files filtered to those that are digitally signed.
  • Vulnerability Score (coming soon)
    • Displays the average vulnerability score as a percentage rating. This rating is calculated by considering all scanned devices for the customer. The calculation takes into account the presence of unknown or known bad files on the device.

Enable/Disable Fingerprint Scanning

By enabling fingerprint scanning, PC Matic scheduled scans will report the installed software and associated files found to the Fingerprint Dashboard (currently only Windows devices). By disabling Fingerprint scanning, PC Matic scheduled scans will cease reporting file information to the Fingerprint Dashboard.

To schedule a scan for a company, group, or device, navigate to Account Settings > Scan Scheduler. For more information on scheduling scans, see Scanning.

  • MSP accounts with a free Fingerprint Dashboard license will automatically have a scheduled scan established for each customer added to the account.
  • Pro accounts with a free Fingerprint Dashboard license will automatically have a scheduled scan established for the entire account.

Scanned Devices

Once the Fingerprint Dashboard has been enabled, the next scheduled scan will update the number of devices scanned (as well populate the the other cards).

Clicking the Scanned Devices card will display the scanned devices below. Here you will see:

  • Device name
    • Displays the device name from the Windows settings. (Does not display the PC Matic alias).
  • Device Score
    • Displays the device vulnerability score as a grade rating. This rating is takes into account the presence of unknown or known bad files on the device.
  • Fingerprints
    • Displays the number of files found on the device.
  • Last Scan Date
    • Indicates the last time a scheduled scan was completed on the device.

Managing Files

Once fingerprint scanning has been enabled and scheduled scans have commenced, you will observe numbers starting to populate the vendors and fingerprint cards.

Good Software Vendors

Displays the number of software vendors across all scanned Windows devices as well as the percentage of vendors with files that are categorized as Known Good by PC Matic. Click the large number to view Known Good files grouped by vendor. Click the Total number to view all files grouped by vendor.

In the window below the cards, the files will be listed by software vendor name. The columns display the vendor name, number of products, number of files, and the number of signatures used to sign the files.

Use the filters at the top of this section to filter the list by PC Matic categorization, digital signature status, or local allowlist/blocklist status. You can also group the files by file or vendor and search the list.

Utilize the caret symbol (>) to expand the vendor and view the individual products. Expand the product to access the individual files associated with that product.


Good Fingerprints

Displays the number of files on all scanned Windows devices as well as the percentage of files that are categorized as Known Good by PC Matic. Click the large number to view Know Good files, click the small number to view all files.

In the window below the cards, the files will be listed by file name. The columns display the vendor name, number of products, number of files, and the number of signatures used to sign the files.

Use the filters at the top of this section to filter the list by PC Matic categorization, digital signature status, or local allowlist/blocklist status. You can also group the files by file or vendor and search the list.

Utilize the caret symbol (>) to expand the file and view the file details.

Click on "View Devices" to see the devices where this file is located.


Unknown Fingerprints

Displays the number of files that are categorized as Unknown by PC Matic, the number of software vendors the files belong to, and the percentage of files that are digitally signed. Click the large number to view the list of files. Click “Software Vendors” to view files grouped by vendor. Click “Digitally Signed” to view the files filtered to those that are digitally signed.

File Details

When viewing fingerprints, you can expand the file to view more details, including version number, description, size, MD5, SHA256, serial number, allowlist status, signature information, and more.

Adding Files to Allowlist

You can add files to your Custom Allowlist from the Fingerprint Dashboard. To add a file/files to the allowlist:

  1. Select file(s) using the checkbox on the right side of a file list.
  2. In the dropdown that appears, select the level that you want to allowlist the file for.
  3. Click the Save button.
