Bot Hunter Dashboard

The Bot Hunter Dashboard provides details about potential bots (as well as Known Good and Known Bad files) for Windows devices across a company.

To access the Bot Hunter Dashboard:

MSP Accounts: first select a customer from the Customer's page.

  • Free Accounts: select Bot Hunter Dashboard in the sidebar.
  • Paid Accounts: select Fingerprint Dashboard in the sidebar, then Bot Hunter Dashboard in the header dropdown selector

Below is an overview of the Bot Hunter Dashboard layout:

  • Scanned Devices
    • Displays the number of Windows devices that have been scanned for this customer. Click the card to view the list of devices and additional details.
  • Potential Bots
    • Displays the number potential bots across all scanned Windows devices as well as the percentage of vendors with files that are categorized as potential bots by PC Matic. Click the large number to view the files. Click the Software Vendor line to view all files grouped by vendor.
  • Bot Requests Submitted
    • Displays the number of files that have been submitted to PC Matic for review and the number of bots identified by PC Matic as well as the percentage of files that have completed analysis.

Bot Scanning

Free Accounts: Install PC Matic's Free Scanner on your device. Once installed, a scan will run within the hour. Once the scan is finished, the Bot Hunter Dashboard will be populated with the potential bots running on your device. Each device installed with PC Matic's Free Scanner will also be loaded into the Bot Hunter Dashboard.

Paid Accounts: Install PC Matic's Endpoint Agent on your device(s), then schedule a scan. Once the scan is finished, the Bot Hunter Dashboard will be populated with the potential bots running on your device(s).

Scanned Devices

Once the Bot Hunter Dashboard has received data from a scheduled scan it will update the number of devices scanned.

Clicking the Scanned Devices card will display the scanned devices below. Here you will see:

  • Device name
    • Displays the device name from the Windows settings. (Does not display the PC Matic alias).
  • Device Score
    • Displays the device vulnerability score as a grade rating. This rating is takes into account the presence of unknown or known bad files on the device.
  • Fingerprints
    • Displays the total number of files as well as the classification numbers (Good, Unknown, and Bad).
  • Last Scan Date
    • Indicates the last time a scheduled scan was completed on the device.

Potential Bots

If a file has been identified as unknown, the Potential Bots card will update with the number of files found. Click the large number to view the files by file name.

In the window below the cards, the files will be listed by file name. The columns display the vendor name, name products, version number, and the number of devices the file has been found on.

Use the filters at the top of this section to filter the list by PC Matic categorization, digital signature status, or bot submission status. You can also group the files by file or vendor and search the list.

Detailed File Information

Utilize the caret symbol (>) to expand the file and view the available information.

Bot Analysis Request

After viewing the file details you are unsure if a file is a bot, you can submit the file to PC Matic for bot analysis by clicking the Submit Bot Analysis Request button.

Confirm the file that you want to submit by clicking the Submit Analysis Request button.

Once a file has been submitted for analysis, our Malware Research Team will receive a sample of the file and analyze it for malware. The Bot Request Submitted card will update with the number of requests submitted.

Once the Malware Research Team categorizes the file(s), the updated categorization will be displayed in the Bot Hunter Dashboard. If a bot is found, the number of bots found will be updated on the Bot Requests Submitted card.
