Getting Started

The Bot Hunter Dashboard provides details about the software installed across Windows devices in your network.

Creating a Free Account

To create a free PC Matic Bot Hunter account, visit the appropriate link below.

Select MSP (Managed Service Provider) if you will manage the Bot Hunter for multiple customers.

Select Pro if you will manage the Bot Hunter for your own company/organization.

Click the Scan Now for Free button and fill out the account creation form.

You will receive an email to complete the set up of your account. Once your account is set up, you can login and begin installation of the Free Scanner to your devices.

Access to your Bot Hunter management portal is available from any device with a web browser.

Installation

Before installing, please ensure your device meets the minimum system requirements.

There are two methods of deploying the Windows agent, individually to each endpoint using the MSI installer, or at scale using the Device Manager installer on a network using Active Directory.

Windows Installation

  1. Access the Windows installer:
    • Log in to the PC Matic web portal.
    • Navigate to the Devices page select the Add or Remove a Device button.
    • Select the Windows Installer tab.
  2. Deploy the Windows installer to your endpoints:
    • Email: Enter an email address to send the customized installer link with installation instructions.
    • Direct URL: Copy the URL link for manual distribution or future use.
    • Direct Download: Download the .msi file directly to your computer for on-site installation or distribution via shared directories or removable drives. It’s crucial to retain the original file name for correct installation functionality.
    • Silent MSI Installation: Deploy silently using a command string. Suitable for unattended installations.
Command String: msiexec /i “msipath” /qn /norestart

Device Manager Installation

If you are using Active Directory, you can use our Device Manager to deploy PC Matic to your endpoints. See more in our article about Device Manager Setup.

Devices Page

The devices page serves as the default homepage and lists all the devices for the company.

Click the device name to visit the Device Options page to view device details.

Use the Actions features in the right side column to create an alias, add notes, and remove the endpoint from your account.

Along the top row you can filter by group, device type, or search among your list of devices. Click the filter icon above your list of computers to access the Filter Devices window. From here you are able to choose a search field and query your endpoints by using and/or along with several criteria in conjunction: software installed, operating system, IP Address, software versions, and many more.

After selecting one or more endpoints from the list, bulk actions will become available. This will allow you to bulk assign computers to groups and remove computers. You can also select all endpoints currently in this view by clicking the box with the green checkmark in the leftmost column.
